Wat Chana Songkhram's Dawn Rituals

Start at 5:30am when the monks line up for alms along Soi Rambutri. Locals hand over rice and fruit in silence. Skip the later crowds that turn this into a selfie fest.

Inside the Main Hall

The golden Buddha sits under low lights. Monks chant softly until 7am. Stand at the back near the side door for the best view without blocking anyone.

After the chants, some monks sweep the courtyard. Chat with one if they approach. They often share quick stories about the temple's 200-year history.

Walking Route from Khaosan

Exit Khaosan at the 7-Eleven end. Turn left on Chakraphong Road, then right into Soi Rambutri. Total walk is eight minutes. Go early to avoid the fruit sellers setting up stalls.

What to Wear and Bring

Long pants or skirt only. Bring 20 baht for incense if you want to light some. No photos during the chanting.

Next door sits the smaller ordination hall. It stays empty most mornings. Sit on the steps and watch the river breeze move through the trees.
