Banglamphu Wats Quiet Hours Before the Crowds

Early Start at Wat Chana Songkhram

Roll out of bed at 7am and walk five minutes east from Khaosan to Wat Chana Songkhram. Locals drop off offerings before the heat kicks in.

The main hall stays cool inside with old murals that tell Ramayana stories. Monks here do morning chants you can listen to from the side courtyard.

Next Stop Wat Bowonniwet Vihara

Head north ten minutes along Phra Sumen Road to Wat Bowonniwet. King Rama IV studied here so the grounds feel royal but still chill.

Grab a free bottle of water from the temple shop and sit under the big bodhi tree. No crowds until after 11am.

Try the monk chat area near the library if you want to practice Thai or ask about meditation.

Hidden Courtyard at Wat Thepthidaram

Another eight-minute walk east lands you at Wat Thepthidaram. This small wat has a quiet pond full of turtles and zero farang tour groups.

Entrance is free but donations for the turtle food run about 20 baht. Open from dawn till dusk.

Finish at Wat Ratchapradit

Push another seven minutes south to Wat Ratchapradit for the royal-style chedi. White walls and gold trim make killer photos in morning light.

Grab khao pad from a street cart outside for 50 baht before heading back.
